• • PLANTING- Cilantro plants thrive in cool weather, so it??s best to transplant your cilantro in early spring as soon as the danger of frost has passed or in early fall as soon as the weather begins to cool. Cilantro plants transplanted in the fall may not reach the seed stage.
  • MAINTAINING- While cilantro plants like some moisture, well-drained soil is critical for good production. To ensure your cilantro or coriander plant thrives, select a site with loose, slightly acidic, well-drained soil that receives full sun to partial shade. A location with afternoon shade is often ideal for later plantings or in hot climates.
  • EDIBLE HERB- You can begin harvesting fresh cilantro about one month after transplanting when the leaves reach 6 inches tall. Pinch off portions of the upper stem to harvest, which encourages the cilantro plant to branch and become bushier. Avoid harvesting more than 1/3 of the plant. 
  • EDIBLE SEEDS- To harvest coriander seeds, allow the cilantro plant to flower and form seed heads. Allow them to dry on the plant, and then shake the tops into a paper bag and place it somewhere cool, dark, and well-ventilated so the seeds can finish drying. Then you can store coriander plant seeds in an airtight container out of direct sunlight.
